More than forty artists from across New YorkState and Pennsylvania, and several other states, will be featured at an exhibit opening in Binghamton's City Plaza Gallery on First Friday February 5, 2010, from 6 to 9 PM.Included in the show are works in a wide variety of media, including paintings, pastels, sculpture, quilts, installation, and assemblage. The artwork encourages viewers to explore their thoughts and feelings about the potential ofhigh volume hydrofracture drilling for natural gasbeing permitted in New YorkState.
The opening reception will include music, poetry, drumming, dance, and a performance by Pictures Move by Strings Puppet Theater from Scranton, Pennsylvania. The highlight of the evening will be a presentation by Mrs. Charles Dalpiaz, wife of architect Charles Dalpiaz, who created the large "Confluence" sculpture for the City Plaza Gallery.
City Plaza Gallery is open to the public, Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM.The show runs through the closing reception on First FridayMarch 5, 2010, from 6 to 9 PM. "EarthStewards Coalition: Artists Respond to Drilling the Marcellus Shale" is organized by the Gaia Grrrls, and ad hoc group of activist women artists from Binghamton, New York.
