Vital Statistics
Department Overview
The Vital Statistics Office records and files births and deaths that occur in the City of Binghamton. Once these records are recorded they are kept on file in this office. Birth and death certificates are issued as needed Monday through Friday.
Because we have records on file dating from the year 1884, persons doing family histories are able to obtain death records of deceased family members. These records are considered genealogy. As the records are for genealogical purposes, they are stamped for genealogy purposes only. These records are not computerized. Therefore we can only search a three year time period if the year of death is not known.
If you need a record of birth or death and no longer live in the area, these records are easily obtained through the mail.
