City Council
The City Council is the Legislative Branch of City government. It is made up of seven members, each elected to represent a district. You may contact Council Members directly by using the contact information at the right of this page. You may also get a message to a Council Member by contacting the Office of the City Clerk.
The Council conducts Business Meetings on the Wednesdays following scheduled Work Sessions, which are held on the first and third Monday of each month. Business Meetings are held at 6:30pm in the Binghamton City Council Chamber of City Hall, located at 38 Hawley Street.
During Business Meetings, the Council votes on items such as budgetary transfers and Resolutions, Ordinances and Local Laws for the City of Binghamton. These meetings are open to the public, and early in the agenda, members of the public are allowed to address the Council for up to five minutes. For a complete schedule of the meetings, please see below.
You may obtain a copy of a Business Meeting Agenda from the City Clerk’s Office on the Friday before the meeting at 5:00pm. A printable PDF version of the agenda is also available in the section below.

During Work Sessions, the Council considers Requests for Legislation and the preliminary drafts of items to be addressed on the floor of Business Meetings. Work Sessions also provide an opportunity for the Council to invite guests to discuss issues relevant to the City and its residents.
